Certifications

The certification through a national or international institution becomes increasingly attractive. It defines generally accepted quality levels. Through certification, the manufacturer can obtain confirmation of an independent inspection authority that he conforms to these specifications. This way, the user is able to recognize the software quality of his supplier.

Development of Safety-Related Software for Programmable Electronic Systems Certified According to IEC 61508

The currently frequently discussed global safety standard for electronic systems is the IEC 61508 without a doubt. This international standard refers to the functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems and will play a decisive role in the entire functional chain of different industrial applications in the near future. The IEC 61508 takes the entire safety lifecycle into account, from concept, realization up to usage and decommissioning, to secure the reliability, safety and maintainability of safety-critical systems. This has extensive consequences for everybody (provider, developer, supplier, user) and asks you to create a "safety culture" which exceeds the usual quality procedures. Thus, the IEC 61508 represents a milestone in the development and use of safety-critical systems.

PLCopen

In order to meet the variety of proprietary solutions and systems in control engineering, a number of manufacturers and suppliers has established the PLCopen in 1992, which is an international organisation with its head office in Zaltbommel, Netherlands, which is committed to standardization via programming according to IEC 61131-3. The designer is supposed to be able to focus on his actual core task and not having to deal any more with peripheral tasks like programming of the communication.
