FDT Tool FieldDeviceXplorer (FDX)
The FieldDeviceXplorer (FDX) is the FDT tool made by KW-Software. The FDX is a frame application used for integrating standard DTMs for field devices from various manufacturers. It provides the interfaces between the DTM and the used fieldbus or the connected devices respectively and enables the interaction between device and engineering software.
Implementing the FDT specification:
The FDX capsulates the FDT specification in a .NET component. For the user, this is of great advantage because a detailed know how of the FDT technology is not essential.
Integrated engineering approach:
The FDX is based on the Microsoft .NET technology. Due to the possibility to integrate DTMs as components, engineering and runtime can be fully integrated into the automation solution.
The FDX from KW-Software is available as different versions:

FDT Tool FDX: Features
- Supports DTMs that are based on the FDT specification 1.2.1 or newer and which are certified
- Supports the communication interfaces for HART, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, DeviceNet, INTERBUS, AS-Interface, further are in preparation
- User management with password-protected access rights
- Clear representation of the topology of the FDT project in the project tree
- Easy insertion of DTM objects from the DTM catalog into the project via drag & drop with automatic validation
- DTM instances can be moved within the topology with automatic validation
