KW-Software and B&R arrange a long-term co-operation in the field of safety technology

The companies B&R and KW-Software have arranged a long-term strategic co-operation in the field of safety-related automation systems. The aim of this partnership is the realization of the safety-related automation system SafeLOGIC which will be sold worldwide as a part of the B&R product line for application in the field of mechanical engineering and process control engineering.

KW-Software, the leading provider of already certified safety-related software components according to IEC 61508 up to SIL3, takes the full responsibility for the safety-focused software components. In detail, these components are the programming system SAFEPROG, the runtime system SafeOS, the safe firmware execution services as well as the safe PLCopen function blocks. Due to this extensive software basis, B&R concentrates on the domains hardware and communication. The safe data transfer will be solved for the first time by a real-time capable Ethernet protocol called Ethernet Powerlink Safety.

Thanks to the synergies resulting from the co-operation and due to the already existing safety-related components, the launch of the safety controller SafeLOGIC is planned soon.
