Beneath programming guidelines, the PLCopen safety specification primarily comprises the standardization of the 20 most important safety functions implemented as function blocks, such as Emergency Stop, Safety Door or Two-Hand Control. The use of these safe function blocks considerably simplifies the creation and validation of safe application programs. SAFEPROG is the first safe programming system which contains a basic library with 9 function blocks according to the PLCopen safety specification.
