Requirements to engineering software for safety-focused automation devices The effort for developing and realizing safety-focused engineering software requires many years of experience and is thus often underestimated. The example of some already certified safety-focused engineering tools show the points which deserve closer attention according to the IEC 61508 up to Safety Integrity Level 3.
