KW-Software at the Embedded World 2005

487 exhibitors attended at this year's Embedded World - a new record. In spite of the chaotic wintry road conditions, more than 11.000 professional visitors came to Nuremberg. For that reason, KW-Software has made the right decision to attend at this fair for the first time. The visitors were competent prospective customers as well as customers who are mainly engaged in "Embedded Solutions in Automation".

At the KW-Software stand 303 in hall 9, we presented classical subjects such as Automation Framework, PC-based automation, cost-effective and powerful machine visualization and Motion Control, as well as our new approach "ProConOS embedded CLR" running on the processors ALTERA Nios CYCLONE II and Texas Instruments TMS 320F2812.

The new and open PLC runtime system for drives and small controls results in significant cost savings for device and control manufacturers. Due to the use of MSIL as device-independent intermediate language and Microsoft CLR Debug Interface for downloading, monitoring and diagnosing, a manufacturer-independent device interface based on Microsoft standard technology has been introduced in Nuremberg. The Common Runtime Language (CLR) is the basis of .NET. It executes all applications independent of the selected programming language and the hardware platform and thus forms a standardized runtime system for .NET target platforms.

The advantages at a glance:

• Mixing of languages and tools creates more flexibility
• Quick adaptation to new processors improves "Time to Market"
• MSIL Code is fully (i.e. 100%) binary compatible for different CPUs and controls
• Support of cost-effective small controls

Result: The .NET technology of KW-Software will be the future PLC runtime system in automation. With this new technology, KW-Software further expands its market leadership in the field of automation. For first pilot customers, ProConOS embedded CLR will be available at the Hanover fair 2005.
