At the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2002 in Nuremberg, the companies KW-Software and Hilscher present an integrated system consisting of the IEC 61131 programming MULTIPROG and PROFInet SYCON.net.
PROFInet as a technology platform for distributed automation assumes a close co-operation between communication engineering and control engineering. With this demand, both companies have implemented mutual interfaces in their base technology.
By the means of multi resource programming and ActiveX/COM interfaces, MULTIPROG provides a very deep integration of SYCON.net with which field busses can be configured via FDT/DTM technology and PROFInet devices can be parameterized and connected. The Hilscher field controller PKV50 serves as PLC on which the KW-Software PLC runtime ProConOS is running as PROFInet subscriber.
With this integrated technology platform, an open basis for own developments is available for automation device manufacturers which makes the usually necessary coordinations and costs for integration superfluous.
This co-operation is an important step for both companies (which will both continue acting independent at the market) in offering a high-quality integrated technology platform for future distributed automation structures.
