Stage 5: Debugging the project

Once the project is downloaded to the target we perform a cold start. While the PLC executes the program, we want to verify whether the code works correctly. For that purpose the system provides several debug tools.
   
 

Troubleshooting and commissioning

The video about this stage in the tour demonstrates how you can do the following in MULTIPROG®:
  • execute a cold start of the control.
  • call the graphic editor in online mode to display online values in the LD worksheet.
  • use the I/O simulator being part of the MULTIPROG® standard package to verify that the On/Off switch for starting the motor works properly.
  Apart from the debug tools shown in the video, MULTIPROG® offers you many additional tools for troubleshooting and commissioning, among others for setting breakpoints, forcing and overwriting variables, collecting online values in the watch window and using the Logic Analyzer.
