- Toggling Boolean values in graphical online worksheets: Graphical worksheets (programming languages FBD, LD and SFC) in online mode can be switched to an enhanced online mode for 'Toggling Boolean values'.
- Network templates: These self-defined "template codes" can contain placeholders instead of variables, instance names, address statements and comments.
- Use of DIN characters in identifiers: Extension of the IEC standard regarding the use of DIN characters in variable names.
- Tooltips in textual code worksheets (ST, IL) including online values: The text editor (in ST and IL) can now display tooltips - this is possible while editing and in online mode.
- Comparing the POUs of two projects (enhanced functionality): The already existing project compare feature has been extended.

- Improved handling of the variables grids: This includes direct copying and pasting between Microsoft Excel and variables grid worksheets, Excel-like editing functions in the variables grid as well as the easy updating of external variables according to the existing global variables.
- Improved print function: Similar to Microsoft Word, you can now select single pages or page ranges for printing. Variables grids can be printed with line breaks to ensure that the entire content of each cell is visible.
- PLCopen XML import/export: New tool-independent XML exchange format. MULTIPROG 4.5 supports this exchange format for IL, ST, LD (graphical editor) and FBD.
- Opening a zipped project: When unzipping archived projects (*.zwt), you can now select the target folder.
- Drag & drop in the project tree.
- Implicite addressing of DWORD, WORD or BYTE variables enables the direct access on parts of bitstring variables without using BIT_UTIL functions.
- 1000 elements within one STRUCT definition possible.
New modules:
- Integrated source code control system: The existing MultiUser functionality in MULTIPROG can be combined with a SCM system (e.g. MS Visual SourceSafe®) and used for saving MULTIPROG data.
- New grid-based Fixed Format LD editor.

- The size of the I/O area has been increased to more than 64 kBytes per area (optional).
Extensions of the Automation Interface:
- Creating global variables from externals.
- Matching of global variables with externals of a resource or automatic creation of new global variables.
- Number of recently opened projects in the 'File' menu increased from 4 to 9.
- Step comments in SFC.
- IntelliSense for data types.

- Download Changes (IPC40): The feature 'Download Changes' makes it possible to perform nearly any kind of changes in the project and send these changes to the target while the control is running. The modifications may affect the whole project.
- New data type LREAL (IPC40).

- MultiUser enables the safe access of several users to project source files of the same project (server-client architecture).

- Organizing POUs in groups improves project overview.
- Extended project import/export: Exchange of POU data with external tool.
- Better overview due to names in the control title bars.
- Copying the content of the message windows to the clipboard.

- Force list (ProConOS adaptation) displays all forced variables and provides the possibility to reset forcing either en-bloc or individually.
- User-defined data types (array or structure elements) in the Logic Analyzer.
- Download of a bootproject or a project zip together with the project (ProConOS adaptation).
- Confirmation when starting/stopping the PLC.
- Displaying the resource load (ProConOS adaptation).
- PDD > 64 kBytes with ProConOS 3.3: Now, up to 16,364 variables with an average name length of 63 characters can be stored to the PDD.
