Reliability, high performance and flexibility
ProConOS® is the highly reliable and powerful PLC runtime system. With the installation of ProConOS®, a standard hardware platform as well as a specific embedded hardware platform becomes a powerful PLC.
The ProConOS® performance range includes loading and processing of PLC programs as well as provisioning of debug functions. Powerful communication functions support OPC, remote maintenance and programming. ProConOS® is multiclient-capable. |

High Performance
The ProConOS® compiler generates optimized machine code. Through this, instruction times in the lower nanosecond range are achieved on Pentium® processors (see table on left). |
 |
| |
Independent of this tremendous performance, the priority structure within the context of preemptive scheduling ensures that sufficient calculating time for communication with the programming system, the OPC-Server as well as debug functionalities is always available. |

Preemptive multitasking
ProConOS® is based on a standard multitasking operating system and supports preemptive scheduling. A watchdog for each user task provides required monitoring mechanisms and in case of a real-time violation, the associated system task is activated to intervene and make corrections. Runtime errors (exception handling: watchdog, zero division etc.) and change of operating mode (e.g. stop after run, boot sequence) can be responded to by the application in a differentiated way through programming of system tasks. |

Periphery and file system
ProConOS® is characterized by the following functions with regard to using the periphery and the internal file system:
- Task-synchronous reading of inputs and writing of outputs via an I/O process image
- Open I/O interfaces for connection of a wide range of periphery
- Intelligent field bus masters are supported
- Storage of the boot project for realization of the PLC-typical startup behaviour
- Storage of the user program in the internal file system as zipped archive project
- Storage of any files in the internal file system for further processing

ProConOS®, the communication talent
The highly efficient and flexible interface for integration of communication drivers in networks simplifies easy real-time data exchange via variables. Through allocation of variables to groups with different communication properties, ProConOS® can communicate with different controls in the network at the same time. This way, ProConOS® integrates perfectly into available or newly designed automation concepts.

Motion control functionality
The ProConOS® version Win RT MC combines PLC functionality and motion control. Based on the motion function blocks defined by the PLCopen, an IEC 61131 application, programmed in the IEC 61131 programming system MULTIPROG®, can now combine the classic PLC functionality and motion control. |
