Any INTEL-based PC with integrated field bus card works under ProConOS® Win RT as Soft-PLC. In addition, the PC is used for developing the PLC program (MULTIPROG®), designing the visualisation project (ProVisIT) and field bus configuration.
The ProConOS® OPC-Server is responsible for access of the visualisation to OPC variables.
Example 2: Using any Windows® CE device as control
A desktop PC serves as programming tool and any CE device with integrated field bus interface as PLC.
The desktop PC is used for developing the PLC program (MULTIPROG®) and for designing the visualization project (ProVisIT Development). The PLC is a Windows® CE device (for example based on an INTEL Strong ARM processor) working as PLC runtime system under ProConOS® Win CE, with bus interface (e.g. Hilscher CIF board or INTERBUS G4 Master) and display (e.g. touch screen). Both components are connected via TCP/IP and ActiveSync.
The OPC-Server on the desktop PC provides access to OPC variables from the PC (for design and execution of the visualization project). On the CE device, the OPC-Server Win CE enables communication between the PLC processes and ProVisIT Runtime CE as OPC Client.
